Shimano Talica 8 High Speed Jigging Reel

The Shimano Talica is built on solid engineering principles that puts this reel in a league of it’s own. This series offers a high-speed retrieve that you can use for jigging up brutal kingfish from offshore structure where speed can make all the difference or use it to target marlin and tuna trolling lures or pitching out a bait to a fired up pelagic.

The Talica is available in both single speed and 2 speed options providing a wider range of applications across the range – from straight out lure fishing to battling deep water species this reel has it covered.

Each model has a one-piece cold forged (for extreme strength) and machined Aluminium frame is treated with a proprietary surface process for cutting-edge corrosion protection. Shimano then added a lightweight cold forged aluminium spool, oversized HEG (High Efficiency Gearing) gears, waterproof carbon drag system and 6 S-ARB bearings for super slick operation.

The Talica has been constructed to withstand massive drag pressures for their respective sizes and a carbon drag system has been waterproofed (when engaged) to handle salt water spray.

The range features 4 sizes – 8, 10, 12 and 16, while the High Efficiency Gearing means that they have the power to fight fish well above their weight class.

The design brief for the boat series was to have fast action blank, with high quality components, for casting and fishing baits on either braid or mono. The Shimano Carbolite Overhead Boat Rod was created using the ultra-strong T45 construction method and high quality Fuji components. For the Surf rods, the same T45 construction method was used to create an ultra-powerful surf rod with a slick butt and robust cap end to protect the blank from galv rod holders. Perfect rod for a variety of surf conditions.
